Replacing factory ballast with aftermarket

Recently my ballast on one side of my headlights went out and the bulb on the other went out, went to Ford and they are asking for an arm and a leg for replacing and it's not under warranty anymore and I have the Factory HID system, was wondering if I bought an aftermarket HID kit, could I splice them into the factory wire harness? Been done before? If there is a thread for this already please point me to it lol but thank you for any help it's greatly appreciated!

First try one of the on-line Ford parts sellers, such as

Replacing the part with one that is directly interchangeable is almost always "cheaper" than making the conversion to something different, if you put any value on your time.

5.0 Coyote and candersen like this.
