2013 Mustang GT low oil level message.

Hello all! I have been having some problems finding a solid answer to this question. Do the 2013 mustang gts with the 2.5 inch display have a low oil level message that will pop up if your oil is low? I’ve found mixed answers on all forums, and even my local ford dealer/ford chat has told me the vehicles do not. However, page 113 of my owners manual says the vehicle is equipped with this feature. I’ve been having some oil consumption issues, and I just want to be sure this warning exists in case the problem rapidly worsens. After 3k miles my oil level was under the low level dot on the dipstick, which seems excessive to me. Any input would be greatly appreciated. I can provide vin info if it would be helpful at all. Thank you for your time.

I'm not sure either... I've never seen it and hope I never do. There are pressure indicators in my Gauges App though.

I wouldn't rely on electronics to warn me of low oil however. You should be checking it daily if you have that much consumption. Physically checking the level is the ONLY dependable way to verify your oil level. It may be a PITA to check it physically every day, but if you want to be aware of your oil levels, it's the only way.

There is a level sensor on the side of the oil pan. I don't know the part number but I'm sure it can be googled.

I think you can believe the owner's manual, but I wouldn't trust that 100% so check it often and keep it filled close to the top mark so you have a little room for error

Alright, thanks for the help! I’ll definitely keep checking the oil and adding some as needed. I should probably add the engine has about 114k miles on it now so it’s possible there’s just some wear and tear on it at this point. Does anybody know about how many quarts are from the bottom hash mark to the top? I would assume about 1.

Just for Info, a friend on mine replaced his level sensor about a year ago and after replacing the sensor it still flagged low oil level and ended up replacing the harness connector with pigtail that he purchased from Rock Auto.

The sensor if I recall was not so easy to get due to unavailability and he ended up special ordering it from the dealer. Also, if you buy a new Ford oil pan it should come with the sensor.

In reply to your question, yes it is one quart from low to full. However, when the car is serviced it might show a bit overfilled if they install all 8 quarts. Some shops toss in all 8 quarts and others will hand you half a quart back in the jug if they top it off to the full mark. This is due to the capacity of the filter.

And that brings me to my final point which is always check the oil level after servicing by a shop. The newer S550 Mustangs take 10 quarts. There have been reports of the S550 being serviced with 8 instead of 10 quarts by shops unaware the newest coyote takes that mush oil and instinctively pours in 8 and twists the oil cap back on without so much as checking the level . But so far (knock on wood) no one has reported a S197 being serviced with 10 quarts.
