13 weeks later, my car has arrived !!

Well my car FINALLY came in !!

Got an e-mail from my dealer this morning saying it came in last night after hours ... however I was not home to read the e-mail as I was with my son helping set up the gym at his school for a program this evening. So on the way home (about 10:30AM), I decided just to "drop by" my dealer as he never replied to my e-mail Friday morning checking if the "Conveyance Mechanical Failure" status had changed yet (come to find out he was gone all day).

So I'm walking in to the owners office and one of the other salesman says "you've got a on your face" ... and I said well no point in being upset, just figured I'd drop by to see if there is any new news. The owners says, didn't you get my e-mail at 9:00 this morning saying it's HERE ... figured you'd be here about 15 min later ... what took you so long ??

So she's still on the rack ... inspection is done but no one is there to detail it ... I can have it TODAY "as is" (3-4 weeks of dust from AAI lot & transport and basically as it rolled off the truck) or I can wait till Monday.

Heck yeah, I went back at noon to do all the paperwork and took her home filthy and un-prepped !!

After we got back from the high school concert at 10PM last night, I took it out for a real test drive. Drove 20 miles or so all over my hometown and the country roads around it. After 16 years and 350k miles of driving SN-95's this is a whole new experience ... it's just too damn quiet, going from an '04 to this is as drastic as going from my '69 to the '04 in the same day. Course now I'll be jumping between the '69 & this which is almost as drastic as switching between a model T to a '69 !!

This thing needs the GT engine sound tube as well as one from the Rear diff & Trans ... I miss my 04's gear whine and tranny noises & feel coming up thru the direct mounted B&M shifter !! If you made it so you can turn the sounds on & off ... like when you want the SYNC to work properly.

Ran her hard a few times from a dead stop ... did not hit redline, but got a healthy bark out of 2nd a couple of times. Get it up into the sweet spot and it pulls real hard and next thing your doin' 70. Man that 6th gear is steep with the 2.73's, got in it a couple of times and was similar doggy as my '04 when you get close to 1000 RPM's. So if I want to hypermile in traffic at 1000 RPM, it will do it too.

Also rigged up the front plate bracket to mount to the lower honeycomb grill. Used some rubber oil cooler mounting blocks as spacers (cut on an angle at the grill to straighten bracket), 2) 4" long drywall screws with big head washers (at the bracket) that screw into a 1.5" wide strip of plywood behind the grill. Took about a half hour, I'll probably swap the dw screws and plywood for S.S. 10-32 screws and a strip of S.S. behind the grill later, but this works for now.

Plate bracket is actually upside down compared to how it would have mounted to the bumper.

Well good going! That's the color I wanted. You ever hit any of the events over in Fond du Lac (Hogs and Horses) or the Mustang stampede at the EAA?

Congrates, looks really nice, enjoy!

I have a question about the 2011, and it would great if you could reply:

When you have the parking or headlights on, what color are the radio and the center console, fans switches, heat A/C controls, those controls and radio illuminated with?, Green, Blue, Red ???

Basically the things that the My Color feature does not change..

Thanks and again, great looking car !

awesome congrats, you will love her. As Far as makin em sound louder, I myself am goin with electric cutouts. The mufflers are fine as one can tell from intial startup it just idles down, so thats clearly not the muffler like a lot of ppl that don't own them but have driving them think. I personally talked to a engineer at the the Detroit show he said it's an idle down feature to bring engine up to temp. The cutouts are nice in that you can adjust the loudness without having to crawl under and fix it that way. There also a vid on youtube by i think burnout radio for a 5 minute quick mod to pipe in more engine noise.

Very nice, I am green with envy! I don't blame you, I would have taken it home un-prepped too. No way I would have let it set a the dealership all weekend, knowing I could be driving it and polishing it and loving it and...

Seems like most of the new owners are going with black or kona blue. Good thing I'm a torch red, I mean "Race Red" kinda guy!

Elenora. Watch out, she may kick.

2012 GT Premium: Race red - automatic - 3:31 gears - HID headlights - all weather 19" Pirelli tires - Roush axle-back exhaust, GT/CS Spoiler. Coming soon: quarter panel & rear window louvers

Blue is the illumination color. It will probably be a while before I mess around with playing ANY of the std. settings.

Already one hell of a learing curve as far as all the technology in this thing, I'll be happy just to get my phone sync'd and get used to how to operate all the basic controls that are totally different from the '94-04's I've been driving for the past 16 years.

I'd like to de-program the stupid chime when the key is in the ignition and door is open ... ANYONE KNOW HOW TO DO THIS ??
I've always just unplugged (or cut) the wire that grounds out on the key to make the door chime, but we've now stepped into the 21st century and it's probably a little more complicated !!

Congrats, glad it only took you 13 weeks. 14+ and still waiting for me! I had originally ordered a Kona Blue 2010 in November and then canceled that and ordered the 2011 in early February in Sterling Grey.

I pretty much stick to Manitowoc county car shows these days.

Years ago, I always had my '69 at Iola and many shows around the Appleton/Oshkosh/New London area as I have gearhead buddies that live over that way.

Since 3 kids (oldest is 18), just have not done much other than belonging to a local Car Club and doing local shows.

Done much more modding on my daily drivers ('98 & 04) than I've done on the '69 over the last 12 years !!

This '11 will probably remain mostly stock as all the mods I typically did are there all ready ... T-Lok, Dual Exhaust, EC Mirror w/ outside temp, Performance tires, engine tweeks to increase performance & efficiency, etc.
--------------------------------------------------

Thanks for all the kind words everyone ... this really is the best Mustang I've ever owned and if you are still waiting for yours be patient, they ARE coming and are well worth the wait.

More pics after a wash ... sun's a little high in the sky, but at least it was out !!

Had a total of FIVE to post, but it would only let me post TWO.

Been having a hard time posting pics on TMS too ... thought I had it figured out they were too big and needed to be re-sized (which I did). For yuks, I tried posting the full size images and it let ONE post (right image and it's not the best anyway) other is 1200x1600.
