I wanted a convertible with a back seat. I was looking at the BMW 128i convertible. But if not that I probably would have had to lose the backseat and got a 370z or something small like that.

I've always enjoy fun cars either with power or with a great feel (convertible). I had a Toyota Solara convertible but it handled like a tank. Not very response, lacked power, lacked appeal. Convertibles are fun to drive under the right conditions and people look longingly at you, but I needed more.

I thought about another Toyota but there wasn't any excitement. Looked at Honda, same thing. Tried the Camaro and didn't like it. Dodge wasn't a consideration for me because of quality. Drove the Mustang and it was over.

It was the Mustang or drive the beater until something interesting/exciting was released.

Before the 5.0 was officially announced I was planning to buy the 03-04 SVT Cobra with low miles for $21-24k budget.

So if Ford delayed the car for a long time, i would prob still go for a "terminator"

I am pretty determined to own my 1st mustang.

I also considered the BMW 135i, but too many owners have had consistant problems with the 135i's NPFP fuel pressure pump. As reported on their forum, the thing tends to go into limp mode unexpectedly and owners eventually need to have the dealer replace the unit sometimes several times. Get this, one loyal owner's response to complaints about the 135i's problems was "if you want reliability, get a Honda." That kind of turned me off.

I also considered the Infinity G37. A real beauty but not sinister enough like the GT.

If I wasn't getting a Mustang I'd be buying a Jeep Wrangler. I still plan to get one in a few years.
