Installing an Altec show-n-go

So I recently received an altec show-n-go system. I'm trying to decide how I want to install it.

There appears to be 5 5/8" clearance from the air dam to the ground, but something like 6.5" from the ground to the underneath the car. It looks like the entire piece could be taken off so I could work on it, and then re-attach it. I could also possibly cut a piece out of the front of the air dam so that the plate can go through it (which wouldn't change the clearance of the car).

Has anyone else considered doing this kind of a mod?

ah you have done the remote one cool. i debated n then thought about the manual. But i just decided on the Craig's Custom brackets. Cheaper and no drilling or cutting of the car. Plus i didnt have much time on my hands to fabricate the altec so i wouldn't have to cut the air dam
