Sync and Cell Phone

Well, someday I suspect my GT will make its way to my garage from Ramp 51. As such, I am wondering if I need to buy a new cell phone. That is, a new phone that has been tested by Ford. I do text and would like to use the Sync texting functionality, but don't know if it warrants getting a new phone for a summer car. I am interested to hear any thoughts you current users have. If you use the texting, do you like it? What about simply using my old phone, do they work well enough with sync, or is it just simply more effective to have ford approved phone?

Thanks!

Race red GT Prem 401a Conv m/t ordered 5/7, built 6/10, eta 6/25, now on ramp 51 and no more updates.

Can't comment on the texting ...don't do a lot of that. I use a 2 plus year old RAZR that works fine for voice. As long as your phone has Bluetooth capability, you should be fine.

I tried using the text feature, The screen said "unsupported" I have an iphone 3GS with the latest OS. Its not that big of a deal to me. Other than that, making/accepting calls is awesome. Streaming music via bluetooth is a nice touch. Not more annoying Aux. cable laying around the car.
