Just curious b/c I didn't have to replace the boot on my 2002 and the 400A shift knob appears very similar to the one that came in my 2002. I had thought of this mod for my 2011 but I don't know how I feel about taking apart the interior of a brand new car.

To the OP, looks great, I love the retro look of the white cue ball shift knob .
I'll have a fix for this and pics in a few days...
You can order the boot adapter (Better looking than the Rousch IMO) from
GrabberPony.com - Aluminum Jam-nut/Boot Adapter (Powered by CubeCart)

And a wide selection on size and colored knobs (order M12x 1.25 thread)from
Epco Shift Knobs - Home

Total = $24 for the adapter and $33 for the knob. No boot change. I have the white engraved knob already...Just waiting for the adapter in Black to finish up the kit.

Excellent tip...I just ordered one....it'll be my second mod, the first will be the magnetic black-out panel for the read deck...

With the 401a there is no boot work or dissembly. Just unscrew one ball and repace it with another.

I'm thinking of getting one myself
