Satelite radio opinions

So what are your take offs on satelite radio? Being as my car had the antenna on trunk ( I pick it up tomorrow) I will seriously consider getting a subscription once the free time runs out. Do you guys know how it works if you store your car in the winter ? Can you adjust you subscription to compensate ?

I would get it if I were you. In the old days, the subscription was per receiver. I don't what it is now, since all my vehicles are new and it is till free.

I like it (of course, free for now,) because I can hear old music I don't have or don't remember. What I don't like, though, are the interruptions which occur when you go under a bridge, and that it doesn't work at all in an underground garage.

My brother added my unit to his subscription. I believe the cost is something like $7 a month, as opposed to $15 if it were my own subscription. I drive the Stang about 1500 miles a year and enjoy the sound of the engine more then the radio so I wasn't going to pay for the Sirius, but for 70$ a year it is hard to not have it.

You can manage your subscription/account online and add or delete radios at will via the radio ID #. When you add a radio, it takes about 10 minutes for the satellite to send the activation code to your receiver.

I really like sat radio for the programming. Even though the sound isn't CD quality., it's more than acceptable for the non-audiophile.

I was a XM subscriber for years (now XM/Sirius) and enjoy the "Decades" channels and "Deep Tracks".

Even if I get the Base GT, I'll install a aftermarket tuner that will integrate with the factory radio (and have a -much- smaller antenna on the trunk).

It is per radio so if you don't use the car you'll pay for it anyway..you can't transfer it to another sat radio..

I generally spend the big bucks and get the Lifetime subscription to the satellite radio. No monthly payments forever for you and whoever you sell the car to...... It usually runs between $500 and $600 for the lifetime package.

I have a portable XM Radio and have always received the 77/year subscription. If they try to charge you more for XM/Sirus then google
"XM/Sirius Radio Subscription 50% off for a year"
and follow the directions to get the offer.

Once you have it for a little while, your hooked. I live in the boonies, not much for radio, but after having sat. it don't matter. I bought a mobile sirius in '04, and still have it to use in any vehicle that don't have it from the factory now. Hair Nation all the way!

I'm not really going to be in a hurry to renew it, since I only drive about 250 miles a month. I might be more inclined if they include internet streaming with the package.

TallCarGuy. The lifetime subscription was the first thing I thought of. The problem is that up here in Canada from what I read, they discontinued the lifetime option. Any Canadians have information ?
