2011 mustang "security coding"

The dealer is recommending "security coding". The additional cost is $189 and it involves , if I understood him correctly, an imprinted or engraved chip or sensor in the butt end of the door when opened.
I believe it allows for tracking of the car....but again I'm not clear on this. Anyone have any input on whether this may be worth it or if "the club" would be better to deter the theft initially(rather than tracking it after it is already gone?

it is a waste of money...

I don't speak often but when I do, I don't have clue what I am talking about. I just repeat things that I once heard and do not repeat them correctly... My doctor told me it was an ID 10 T problem and it was incurable.
So when I reply to a post or add to a thread I just find the words elsewhere and copy and paste.

Probably just a Vin Etch, or sticker with a registration program or something similar.. Nothing at that price is gonna track your car electronically. We used to do this stuff in the Motorcycle Business. Sucker bet and Pure dealer profit IMO.

Glock makes a nice security system but they run well over $200. Good news is they are fully transferable and transportable into your other vehicles or home!

Save your money.

If it actually allows your car to be tracked by GPS, then it's worth the money. But it likely doesn't. Get a brochure from the dealer.

I declined the glass etching on my car, and the dealer did it anyway. I guess that's easier than keeping track of who paid for it.
