What kind of horsepower loss are you expecting to see? You do realize that even if it loses say 1RWHP and 1 RWTQ, it's probably a run variation, temperature, drivetrain or tire spin, rpm signal, etc.

I can probably pull results from a few supercharged cars I've run with and without the hood closed without any difference.

that pretty much confirms what i said earlier. since the aftermarket intakes reuse the same fresh air ducting, the flow is restricted there just the same as in the factory intake...

the point is not only the increase in IAT, but also the fact that the open filter intake (i.e. JLT, steeda, C&L, etc...) is open to the atmosphere when the hood is open. this will greatly increase the flow as opposed to when the hood is closed and is pulling air through the fresh air ducting. this is not a real world test to me, and it will inflate the #'s...

with the hood closed, the "airbox" is sealed against the hood and forced to draw air through the restrictive fresh air ducting.

You're assuming that the ducting is working like a vacuum line, and it's the only spot bringing air in. That's not the case.

Again, while in theory this sounds great, and you're on the right path.

In reality, it's not worth measurable power in MOST applications, including S197 Mustangs, especially Naturally Aspirated.
