It sounds like you still have the insert installed. This insert comes installed from Airaid, so many people forget to remove it. The car will run rich and sluggish with this insert still in, as it's intended for vehicles that aren't running a tune.

It's a sleeve that pushes into the inlet tube by the MAF sensor. You'll need to remove the MAF sensor from the tube, remove the filter, and slide out the plastic insert.

After that, reinstall the filter, reinstall the MAF sensor and I'll bet you it's like a different vehicle!

Ahhhh, no tune on the JLT. Nevermind. Let me look into your file and see what I can find.

Count me as completely satisfied with the Airaid/Bama tune setup. I ran just a BAMA tune for a coupla months before taking the next step up to a CAI system. The order taker at AM suggested the Airaid over the other brands carried -- and it was the least expensive. I recieved the Airaid CAI the next day via UPS, but had not recieved the tune via email. Called AM and told them about it before I started the CAI install, which took me about 2 hours. I found the instructions a little misleading, but figured out the vague parts anyway. Recieved tunes via internet, again, had a little trouble understanding instructions but figured it out on my own (I may be an autodidactic retard) loaded the SCT, then loaded the car with the performance 91 tune, which is what I liked best before installing the CAI. Car started right up, no glitches, weird smells or hickups. My engine has been strong since Day 1, but now the engine is a freakin' professional-grade MONSTER!!! Scary fast, even with the automatic. WOT traction is an issue in first two gears even on dry straight nicely-paved surfaces .Throttle needs delicate application to not patch out, easily learned (must be relearned if you have a sluggish "other" car, which I do). This is not a paid announcement, just an old guy trying to keep his chin up in this cruel and unfriendly world.

Same problem with a surge - SCT canned Strategy tune with Roush CAI. One side note is there still is a surge with the stock tune and Roush CAI, much less frequent though.

Battery Tender or charger on the battery when programing - need I say more - lessons learned. The full programming procedure sucks some juice and if you don't watch it like experianced on past obd2 cars it can byte you hard especially when doing it a couple times .. read my lips - new pcm. Like the Tender ..

Chris, I have a 2012 5.0 with these same idle issues. Frequently it even dies at stop lights. I tried the idle teach process but no luck.

Called BAMA and they said its because the race tune is not designed to be ran with AC on.

I don't buy that. Any suggestions?

Also, I have a video of it bouncing from 450 to 1300 rpms and eventually dipping so low that it stalls if there is a way for me to get it to you.
