It depends on the county.

Sure you have to be careful. In that particular case it was on I90 between Buffalo and Syracuse, NY, straight as an arrow the entire way, and I knew the cops liked to sit in the median, just after a crest. My shield was a full sized van, he parked himself in the left lane and I gave him plenty of room. I am positive that the cop only saw him when the van's brake lights came on because I didn't see him, although I knew instantly that the gig was up. The van was pulled over with the cop behind him when I rolled by doing the speed limit, and I looked right at the driver and gave him this:

I pulled off at the next exit though and took back roads the rest of the way home just in case the cop had radioed me in to his buddy.

Some tips that might help:

Color matters. If your car is Race Red, you'd better be going about 3 under the limit.

Cops equate the left lane with speeding - the "fast" lane. If you feel the need to haul @$$, do it in the right lane. The cognitive dissonance associated with a fast car in the "slow" lane messes with their heads.

Valentine Detectors are the poops. I wouldn't have anything else, and I had anything else for 30 years.

Check out radarbusters.com for forums and tips on "stealthing out" your car to defend against radar and laser.

The Blinder Laser Jammers work great, too.

For the advanced student, check out the Uniden "Bear Tracker" BCT-15 scanner radio. You'll especially like the BearTracker feature.

Three tickets in 2 months of ownership and your first thing is to find a lawyer to throw them out then invest in valentine1?

Why not learn your lesson and not speed? That is kind of the whole idea.

And I would like to see a study completed on the number of tickets given in comparison to the money made by the city. If a ticket is written and the officer shows that just means more money spent by the city. A few hours of OT for walking into the court regardless of whether defendant shows up would seem to cost the same or more than the ticket written. Playing devils advocate here.

I bought a Bell after owning the car for only 2 weeks... Has been a great detector.. Doesn't show you where they are but it never misses... Can't even count the times it has saved butt.

The pigs are everywhere.. They are looking for revenue I guess..

See em regular use the laser around here.. They stand out where they can just step into the street and wave you in to give you a ticket.. Which now only takes like 5 min.. they scan you license and off you go.. Cute huh? Gave my wife a ticket for 5 miles over on a exit ramp.. How is that for crap??

They don't call Houston the worst speed trap city in the nation for nothing . I have to battle a few known speed trap areas on my daily commute. Even with my Passport, I'm sure watching my back. And you'd better bet that if I got even one ticket, I'd lay low for a few months, then pick it back up. Obviously, the OP doesn't understand that logic.

Out here radar detectors can give a false sense of security, the Highway Patrol now uses laser. I picked up a ticket within the first month of having the car, and have since toned down my speed. Three tickets in California = lost license.

Lol...my comment was referring to the OP (for not learning his lesson), not you. Your post was quite helpful.

Anyways, Valentine1 has been ordered and now im looking to book some time at a local raceway to get some of this speed out of my system. Any more tickets and i'm gonna have to use the mykey with speed limited to 80mph.

Not sure if you are aware of this. Your insurance company will not cover your car if you slam into a wall, or another car, or something else disasterous happens while at the track.

It also wont cover any injuries you cause to someone else.

Youll be on the hook for the cost of damages to property and bodily injury. You will be subrogated and you will lose, and youll pay a wage garnishment for the next 30 years.

This is an industry standard among almost every single insurance company.

So be careful
