Texas is where America is headed... and it's def. not because of the lack of unions.

Isn't 70% of Texas obese? They SHOULD be paying more for healthcare. What percentage of the population in Texas is illiterate? It can't all be because of the lack of unions.... or... maybe it is!

Those stats probably include all the illegal aliens. TX is actually one of the few states doing very well economically, in addition to most of the other "right to work states".

That is funny. I see a lot of "arguments" using number WITH illegals and WITHOUT illegals, depending upon that the particular group is trying to push.

Statistically, the facts don't support your argument. That or the rest of the Union is doing fantastically well and Texas is just bringing up the rear of a booming economy.

Mods don't matter.

Texas is also home to the second largest percentage of illegal immigrants, they're second only to California.

Any chance the influx of unskilled workers with no education, no health care and poor English skills might have something to do with your statistics?

Here's one link with statistics, and another.

Clearly "undocumented workers" lower the per-capita wage, don't typically have health insurance, thereby clogging emergency rooms and negatively impacting health care and health care costs for others in the state legally. Children of "undocumented workers" usually don't come here with English as their primary language, and their struggles in school will impact test scores across the board.

All I can say is remember the Alamo?

There are worse places as far as education compared to Texas though, I hear Florida a pretty rough education system.

Again, you have to consider that 80% of people out there raise their kids with a mentality that they are either an accessory or a burden. They expect teachers and the television to raise them. So they grow up with bunked up values/ethics, expect top dollar if they graduate from college and have no sense in terms of saving money. If the parents spent maybe 1 or 2 hours a day with them things would probably be different.

Fact is, lower wages = lower pay = lower quality of life. If you want to blame this all on illegal aliens, that is your opinion. But the American-born middle class is shrinking and falling into poverty rapidly because of low wage Mc-jobs, of which Texas and Governor Perry are famous for. When you kill unions, then corporations are totally calling the shots. Not a world I want to live in.
It's abundantly clear that the "job creators" that conservatives love to crow about are either creating them in other countries, or creating them for the lawn care workers at their own mansions. The jobs in this country seem to be trickling away, not trickling down.

You can't have higher wages as long as you export industry to china and bring in huge numbers of illegals. You can blame the GOP for it but both parties are selling out the middle class. The dems simply talk the good talk about unions, milk them for donations and continue hand in hand with the GOP destroying the middle class. Voting for either party is like voting for a giant douche or a turd sandwich.
