Thumbs up Stock gtcs wheels wide enough?

With 245 being the widest tire I can put on the rims, what is the best tire to get for best summer performance? I know I could trade out the wheels but I really like them, but they are just so narrow at 8.5.

Thanks in advance!

I have the same problem, I'd like wider tires with the same wheels that I like a lot. I think the widest would be 255 as the V6 PP have tires this size and it's the same wheels...

255-45 is in spec for a 8.5" wheel but the tire is going to be slightly taller than stock. If you are talking about a 255-40 then the spec calls for a 9" wheel but there is always a margin of safety.

Tires size on the V6 PP is 255-40-19, since it's the same wheels as the GT/CS I don't see why you couldn't have that size on the California Special.
I might be wrong but the V6 PP & the GT/CS wheels are the same size no?

I'm another one that would like a larger rear tire but do like my existing GT/CS wheels.

So far I haven't seen anything that I would want to replace yet, so I am sticking with factory wheels.

Didn't find anything you like here? : https://www.allfordmustangs.com/forum...10-wheels.html
I do like my stock wheels, and wish they made those CS wheels larger...

Generally, you are able to safely use tires that are +/- .5" the recommended wheel width.

The cowboy is correct, the V6 PP wheels are the same width at 8.5" and come stock with 255/40 PZeros. There is no problem whatsoever with my 255's I have been using for the last 13k miles

I think I will decide what to do with the wheels/tires once I'll have to change my first set of tires.
Until then, the stock GT/CS will do!

Those will be about .7" shorter than the oem GT/CS tires.

No tire is worth $430 for a Mustang.

Look at Hankook evo's on tirerack.com, less than $200 each and an excellent tire.

I put the brembo wheels on my GT CS. I used the stock 245s though and it looks great.
