E-brake probelm

So, I let my brother use the car today to run some errands. As he was out he called me saying he could not release the parking brake (he knows how to drive standard). I found this odd, and told him the steps of how to release the brake. After a few minutes passed he finally got it to release and no problems from there on. Now I just took my car out and noticed that the chrome button is like 85% all the way pushed in and is totally out of place. It's not that big a deal, it still works. Have any of you experienced this, or anything similar, before? Thank-you for any contributing input!

Not on my Mustang, no. I did once on an old beater Chevette I had many many many years ago. I never got it fixed, I just left the car in gear all the time (a practice I still do today). I'm guessing I may have broken the lip of the button on the inside of the handle and it was hanging up inside the handle itself (I also had this issue on my Tempo years ago-not with the E-Brake but with the button on the auto transmission lever-it would stick about halfway in-it took multiple presses to get it to pop back out and lock).

i think there is a spring release and latch as part of the chrome button, I'd try and get it fixed it should be under wtty (avoid telling the dealer the brother part).

2012 V6 traded in for a 2017 VW GTI.

Maybe your brother was so worried about getting the car properly secured he had an adrenline boost that resulted in a temporarily superhuman strength thumb.

At least you know he's trying to be careful with it.

If you love your dog, get a microchip, they really work! My lost dog was back home in just under 24 hours thanks to the good citizens who called the county and the microchip that told animal control exactly where he lived.

Definitely have the dealer check it out for a warranty fix. If you notice your brother having any other incidents of super human strength then you need to take that show on the road lol!
