1965 Mustang Fastback Overheating

My 1965 fastback is running very hot, last year it worked and ran fine, this year the temp gauge will run all the way to the right within 15 minutes. For various other reasons I have installed a new voltage regulator and temp gauge. Could this be the thermostat sticking partial closed??? Other ideas or items to check??

If you're sure there's actually water in the radiator, it could be a bad thermostat. Definitely a DIY repair. All you need is a 1/2-inch wrench for the two thermostat housing bolts, some ATV and a new thermostat.
