I was going to buy the ATAK's and have them fitted to my existing 3" without resonators but did a search and heard they sound like ass. I even emailed the techs at Borla twice in regards to this sound and they haven't got back to me since April.

I think the Borla's are tuned and engineered for stock pipes with resonators.

I like the ATAK's, but sound is purely subjective. When you say legal, how loud are you allowed to go? if you truly want loud, straight pipes are the best solution.

Disregard my pipes comment. OP wants least amount of resonance. That will pretty much eliminate Roush's and probably other straight through type muffler.

The loudest with least amount of drone usually falls back to Borla. I've heard Corsa may be an option too, but have not heard these personally so can't tell you if they drone or not. But for the price, I hope they wouldn't.

Maybe I should get the ATAK's because of the drone issue, does the Roush drone that bad?

Now Pype-bomb mufflers aren't considered true mufflers?
