1/8th mile ET expectations?

I have not yet been able to take my new '12 GT to the track. Heres my question I have a friend with a GTO that wants to race. He says his car runs consistant 8.50s, its a mildly modified auto. I can not run on the street like back in the day because it could result in the loss of my job if caught. My car is stock except for a Barton 2 post bracket,GT500 axlebacks, and factory 3,73 oh and its a MT. No 1/4 mile tracks around here so whats some guesses,I am a decent shifter been racing mustangs for 15 years just not this new 5.0

Somewhere between 8.0-8.5 depending on tires and weather conditions.

Your problem will be traction. If you can get a decent 60', I would guess an 8.3 in the heat. Could easily be a little slower or a little quicker too, so the 8.0-8.5 guess is a good one.

I ran an 8.3 in the 1/8 mile at 87 mph according to my 1/4 mile timeslip. That's on stock 19"wheels and stock all season tires, 200 lbs of junk in the trunk, and leaving the tree at idle! I'm sure you can at least match that with better circumstances.

Sounds like it might be a close race. I have read about alot about 1/4 mile times from the guys on here. I was wondering about traction problems. You cant leave any of the traction control on on a 6spd car. I tried that on the street and it was like I hit a brick wall on every shift 1st through 3rd when the tires tried to chirp.
