Google Maps no longer works with SYNC?

It doesn't seem like it's been that long since I've tried this, but I just tried to send directions from Google Maps to my car and Ford is no longer an option, nor are any domestic makes at all, only imports.

Has Google gone anti-American? What's the deal?

PS Sorry about the crappy screen shot, I'm on the work laptop. If you click on the attachment then right click on the image and select Open Link in New Window you can see it full size.

If you love your dog, get a microchip, they really work! My lost dog was back home in just under 24 hours thanks to the good citizens who called the county and the microchip that told animal control exactly where he lived.

I think it might be due to licensing spat between Google and Microsoft/Ford

If I remember correctly you can send it to Ford Sync with mapquest

I just checked and found out MapQuest can send to SYNC.

Still, it makes me crabby Google would do this.

Thanks and very interesting... they must be mad at OnStar too, that only shows on MapQuest as well.

I didn't even know Google was an option. I've only used Mapquest.

I used google a couple of times to send the maps to my Sync Nav the first month I bought my car in May. Now that I have a proper phone mount, I have been using my Galaxy nexus. MUCH better than the crappy Sync voice NAV anyway..

If you own an android phone, and depend on Sync NAV, having this option would be pretty neat though..

Well, it was, but it isn't now.

Funny Google adds all these applications and features to attract users then on a whim decides to take a dump on those same folks trying by trying to control what they do. What, they think I am going to trade my car in just so I can go back to Google maps? That's a hell, no. :hihi:

I used MapQuest to take my little trip tonight (needed to find a new way to go someplace that avoided rush hour outerbelt gridlock) and it worked great. So who needs Google? Not me.

I have sync but not the navigation system. How do I send the mapquest to sync, and what is the difference from just using the sync directions?

(maybe it gets the highway names right? Sync keeps calling I-94 in one spot M3 which is the state highway designation for the next road over that runs parallel. It also doesn't give the right direction approaching the Blue Water Bridge in Port Huron. If you follow the sync directions it hasn't been updated for the new work and will take you to Canada instead of into Port Huron)

Hi everyone!

We've discontinued the Send to SYNC feature from Google Maps. The feature will continue to be an option from MapQuest and the SYNC Destinations mobile app. Destinations is a complimentary app with your SYNC Services activation. It's available on iOS, Android, and BlackBerry. For more info, see my link below.

Hey, JimC -

SYNC Services and MapQuest are both great, it's more of a user preference. Here are the instructions for using Send to SYNC:

Yeah, I've been using Mapquest to do mine. As the other poster said, I heard this I a google interface app on android market. Convenient since I use an android phone with gmaps. Also very handy tool for people other than you. IE, instead of trying to get addresses or directions from a friend, just tell them to mapquest it to your phone number.

Question: If I have the full electronics kit, I see I can send myself a destination, but is there a way to upload or send myself a completely configured route?

Other than sending specified MapQuest directions, the route is calculated by the system, jrh0341.
