Black 5.0 emblems

I was wanting to take off the original 5.0 emblems and replace them with the black ones. What ls the best way to get them off? And do the new emblems just stick on? Thanks

The new ones just stick on, and I found it easiest to take some fishing line and run it around every direction. It will get stuck in spots due to the little mounting prongs but when it does just start from the opposite side. The most difficult part is getting the glue off after you remove them, but its really not that bad. To get them straight what I did was i took a visa v marker and outline the original one once I had the surface all cleaned up and ready for the new ones. I did this because the original ones have a little prong as mentioned above to center and level them the new ones are just a sticker....

How to Properly De-badge a Vehicle

Use 3M Super Strong Automotive Attachment Tape (03609) to attach your new emblems. Clean both surfaces with isopropyl alcohol to remove any wax or oil so the tape bonds well.

Are there holes in the fender? If I get a GT, I'd like to take the badging off, but not if there are holes

i want a glossy black finish. Isn't plastidip sort of similar to a matte black finish?

Dang it, I was hoping they didn't have holes, I like the clean look, plus it keeps people wondering when they roll up on you

Just go ahead and plasti dip them so you do not have to deal with the hassle of having to remove them.

Its easy I did mine I just pulled them off and cleaned up the residue and mounted the new ones.Take some blue painters tape and mark off where the old one was I just kinda boxed it in and it took about 20 min to do both sides. No need to be scared the holes get covered up

Blower and stuff

Great thread. Been needing to remove mine and paint them matte graphite. Anything to loosen up the tape whilst fishing the line through it? Goo off or anything?

I had no problem pulling mine off on a warm day with just my fingernails. Cleaned up the residue with Goo Gone and put the black ones on. You have to look real hard to see them and that was the look I was going for.
