New and old Mustang love

A buddy of mnstr50 and mine has a 67 GT500E, so we met up tonight for some driving and food. I snapped a few pics with my 8 year old Canon S600 point and shoot. Car sounds amazing and goes like hell. Enjoy.

Almost a Mustang Oreo except the filling is all at one end, LOL.

Thanks for sharing!

PS Funny the first two people to find this thread also have white Mustangs. If the third is also a PW owner I think we need to go buy a lottery ticket or something.

If you love your dog, get a microchip, they really work! My lost dog was back home in just under 24 hours thanks to the good citizens who called the county and the microchip that told animal control exactly where he lived.

Awesome pics. Looks like you guys had a fun time...at a gas station! LOL

I love that 67 GT500E. Looks mean as hell. I'd love to see it if you ever get a change to take a short video. Wish I could've joined you all.

'Enjoy' is such a weak word. A more accurate phrase would have been to 'Sinfully lust over'.

Eleanor is my dream car, and that even was the perfect paint combo I would have chosen. I already have the base model ready to go...

Grimace, I am very jealous of your fastback. I've been trying to find one for a while now, but they are so damn expensive around here. In good condition they are going for 24k. I found a few that barely run and look like **** for 10 to 13k.

Thanks Deki, that was awesome

Stupid question time:

What does the "E" stand for in GT-500E?

Haha thanks! Talk about a labor of love!! I started the restoration back when I was single and had disposable income. Now, not so much. It has been sitting in my parent's garage since 2008. $24k is nothing for a car like this. It would take $40k+ to pry the title out of my hands for this car. The bodywork and paint was nearly $13k. That Eleanor you posted was probably north of $80,000.

Eleanor from the remake of Gone in 60 Seconds with Nicolas Cage.

The REAL Eleanor was a '73 Mach 1 driven by Toby Halicki who also starred in, produced and directed the movie. That movie aired on my birthday, July 28th 1974.

Stand for Elenore. It's the continuation of the one original one that Shelby built in 1967. All the GT500Es are built after 2003 from 66-68 fastbacks or coupes converted to fast backs and made to look like the original. They are in the Shelby registry so they are worth quite a bit.

Understandable. And try $200k+. The last one in Vegas just sold for $330k. That's big money, and too big for my public servant ass.

Thanks both Grimace and Deki. I guess I really do learn something new every day.

I always wondered why they call the aftermarket 2010+ grille with the fog lights squished together in the middle an "Eleanor Grille".

Man I gotta get out more

Cool pics, all the cars look great. My two favorite kinds of Mustangs as well, '10-'12 and '67-'70 look the best to me. Although I still have a thing for nice '87-'93 LX's with the 5.0.

Oh, yum!

Man, I sure wish I could find a set of those Cobra wheels on the GT500E to fit my car. I've been scouring the Intarwebs, looking at various vendors; but so far, no joy....
