Tint is rated in visible light transmission (VLT) the percentage number (your case 25 percent) is the VLT figure. VLT is basically how much visible light is aloud to pass through the tint, lower percentage number less light(lower number darker windows). technically speaking 25 percent VLT from any brand will be the same darkness. I would suggest that the windows you are speaking of had different VLT values which made them look different, i also find depending on the lighting outside or how you look at the windows can drastically change how dark they look. If you want darker windows go with a 15 percent tint, or 20. From personal experience i found below 20 a little bit annoying for night driving around town, slightly hard to see out side windows when making left turns etc. Both brands you mentioned are reputable and you would be happy with either as far as quality goes.
