Unhappy w/ Trufiber Customer Service...
Just wanted to share my experience with everyone.
I placed an order over the phone with Trufiber for their A61 carbon fiber hood on March 27th. I was lucky enough to speak with the owner. At that point I had asked him if there were any sort of promotions, forums coupon codes or anything of that nature before placing this order. He had advised me that there weren't. A week later, the hood arrived at my door.
Over all the quality of the hood was nice, but not perfect. I immediately noticed very fine, scratches well under the top layers of clear coat. They seem to be pretty consistent through out the entire hood. Very hard to take pictures of since you can only seem them at certain angles. I called the company and spoke with an employee who advised me to try and use a light polish to remove these scratches. Using a Griot's Garage orbital buffer, I applied Blackfire Gloss Enhancing Polish then topped it with Blackfire Wet Diamond Sealant. The hood looked beautiful, but the scratches were still there. I figured I would try something more abrasive at a later point.
A week later I decided I wanted to order carbon fiber rain guards from Trufiber. I noticed on their website in very small font, there was a 5% discount if you "Liked" them on Facebook. I immediately called and asked if it was possible to apply this discount to my hood order the previous week. I was told they would have to run it by the owner, but didn't believe so. I was kind of annoyed because I specifically asked about any sort of promotions like this when ordering my hood. I went ahead and ordered the rain guards and received 5% off. I was told they would have to get back to me with an answer. Days went by with no answer, so I called again. I was then told the best way to reach the owner was via email. Weeks went by without a response. I then contacted another employee of the company, that told me he would let the owner know my concern and have him call me back.
In the mean time I decided to use Meguiars Ultimate Compound and attempted to remove the fine scratches as well as topped it with sealant again. Still no luck. It seems as if the scratches are deep within the clear coat. They look almost like cobwebs, and I am pretty sure they are not cracks. Still looking for ideas.
So today I finally get the owner of the company on the phone and explain my situation over a month and a half later. He said that it is not possible to be given a discount on previous orders and pretty much that it is not their job over the phone to let customers know of any sort of discounts or promotions even when asked. I really think this is unfair and poor business. He said he is not aware of promotions that their "marketing" department runs, so it is up to the customer to follow them on Facebook or look at their website. I feel this is a poor excuse since I am sure he is the one who signs off on these promotions before they go into affect. He then said he would be happy to give me a 5% discount on any future purchases.
Carbon fiber is not cheap as well all know. The $65 discount they could have saved me on the cost of the hood is peanuts in comparison to the amount of money I could, would have spent on more items. From this experience and the way they obviously treat their customers, I will no longer be ordering from them.
Just a thought....
