PBA card works as I hoped

So I was pulled over

Lady trooper: license and registration
Me: yes ma'am (also gave her the NYS trooper PBA)
LT: do you know why I pulled, you over?
Me (pause): yes ma'am I was going a few mph over the speed limit
LT: a few?? You were going 73 in a 55 ... in a work zone
Me: yes ma'am I'm sorry
LT (finishes checking over PBA card) drive more carefully and watch your speed
Me: yes ma'am thank you (sigh of relief)

Not quite sure why you were going 18 over to begin with...

It was 55 in the middle of no where in an inactive work zone. the road has been under construction to become an interstate. Road is usually 65 and I was on a 5 1/2 hour 350 mile trip. I admit I was impatient. I was not driving wrecklessly, but yes I was driving quite a bit over the limit. I have not been pulled over in 25 years and do not own a radar detector.

If I was a woman and it was a male cop I would have flirted or cried or something. I happen to be male and have a PBA card. I was also extremely respectful, honest and polite and the officer gave me a pass. Apparently she saw I was not a risk.

Surprised you are busting my chops so hard.

Travel thru work zones a few times per week on I-90, nys thruway, troopers always hiding waiting for people who arent payin attention. They should be called "standind around doing nothing while collecting state rate zones, as i rarely see our state dot accomplishing much besides when to take a break or whats for lunch.

Thank you fellow NYer. Ive lived in NY for my entire 50 years. I was not on I90 at the time. But I90/290 was the last leg of my trip to buffalo.

Please explain why having a PBA card should make you above the law that the rest of us must follow?
