2012 vortech charged 5.0 a success!

Heres a link to the dyno/install video of my 2012 mustang gt with a vortech V3 trim blower. the car is COMPLETELY STOCK other than the borla ATAK exhaust setup, and the blower. the dyno reads 612 rwhp, with 517ft lbs of tq, at only 8.6 lbs of boost! im very impressed with the work TPS did. what do you guys think? a gain on over 230 horsepower! and over 100 extra ft lbs!

That is impressive! The more I look at what way I want to go with my car the more I lean towards forced induction. Save all the nickel and dime upgrades that get a few hp here and there and just get BOOST!!

the funny thing is...the shop did another 5.0 with much more upgrades, and it WASNT street legal like mine...and it only pushed like 601 hp, with 470 something TQ...not sure if it was the custom tune plus the 60lb injectors and boost pump or what..

Im thinking of swapping the driveshaft for a better one tho, just to play it safe

TPS does do a great job of safe tuning. Vince is "da master". I am saving up for boost. May go with a Vortech as I'm a 2012 too. 1/2012 build date. What was your build date cojakc? There have been some differences in engine builds but nobody can pinpoint what changes (like the oil squirters) were done for what builds, differences in 2012/2013 stock tunes, etc etc. Curious if everyone making great power from forced injection is somewhat build-date related..... Did TPS run a baseline dyno too? Post that dyno result up to show whether you were "better than normal" even totally stock, before FI.

That's great power, but I'd be worried to run that with a stock fuel system and bottom end. I feel like the magic numbers are 600 whp/500 ft lb where things start to get hairy.

He mentioned he had 60lb injectors and boost-a-pump. Stock bottom end should be OK with those numbers. Lots of threads on that. The vortech kit comes with 47 lb injectors. Those mentioned by cojakc were no doubt add-ons similar to BeefCakes use of he IDC1000s in his Vortech kit. In fact, I think the IDC1000s are 90lb injectors. Kenne-Bell boost-a-pump helps keep the pressure up on the stock fuel pump without an need for a bigger pump. They seem to work. Lots of folks run them.

Is that on pump gas or e85? Paxtons and Vortechs make so much power for how much they cost. They make some Roush and Whipples look like pansies unless a lot of money is dropped on the set up to actually help the Roush and Whipples perform well. The only thing I don't like about the Paxton/Vortech is that I would have to lose my 11/12 cs front fogs and I dont wanna do that!
