yep, i had to do it, i see these all the time in the motorcycle forums - even worse then cars!

the poll is what i was going for, but it is fun to see the opinions of the members. what i find interesting is there are mostly votes for FULL synthetic, and then the comments say the recommended synthetic blend....are they voting wrong?

You bring up an interesting point. These threads are from bobistheoilguy.com. Interesting reading.

thin perhaps not as good as i thought | Passenger Car Motor Oil (PCMO) - Gasoline Cars/Pickups/Vans/SUVs | Bob Is The Oil Guy

In thick vs thin don't forget the additives | Passenger Car Motor Oil (PCMO) - Gasoline Cars/Pickups/Vans/SUVs | Bob Is The Oil Guy

BE SURE to go to the first page in the thread. A lot of their threads are responses without saying so.

Carlg, I'm from the philly area and yes, Sunoco used to have 94 ultra. They used to offer 92 super. Now they just offer 87, 89 & 93 octane gasoline.
I use Pennzoil 5w-20 full synthetic oil & a Puralator premium oil filter. Since the 5.0 takes 8 qts of oil, the cost of doing your own oil change is approximately $80 dollars, but well worth it.

I now use 5W-30 Mobil1, it has quieted down the valve train, but an oil change costs about $60 if I do it myself. Get 2 5 quart oil bottles from Walmart, can't beat it!
I use 89 or 91 depending on the price of fuel (Chevron only).

Custom ordered 2012 Mustang GT Premium, Kona Blue, 3.73 rear, MT-82, Over the Top White Stripe and Optional 18" Polished Wheels. Built on Jan 4th, 2012.

You must be lucky because there are many people on the bobistheoilguy forum who have complained that Mobil 1 made their engine more noisy. That was also my experience with Mobil 1 back in the early 2000's and is one of the reasons I quit using it. Also, the oil analysis that I had done on a couple of my cars that used this oil came back not very good for the money I was spending on it. I went back to a conventional oil and my oil analysis results got better. I have not used a full synthetic since.

I just said what I use on another thread but I will say it again. Motorcraft 5-20 blend and Motorcraft fl500s filter. Also there should be a 93 octane option because that's what I just put in my tank. The blend is good oil and cheap. I change it every 5-6k miles so synthetic is kind of a waste of money to me.

what type of oil do you use in your 11-14 GT?

Interesting info, but the engine in a track pack and regular GT is identical. Yet 5W50 is specified in one and 5W20 in the other. So I would presume Ford doesn't buy into the thick oil thin down theory.

I use Amsoil Dominator 15w50. I'm in Texas. The mechanical oil pressure gauge reads 38-40 psi at dead idle, after beating the hell out of it for an hour or two in the 95 degree weather.

Lmao and to think there are some people out there who use conventional oil and 87 octane in their coyotes.

Here's a twist....

93 octane

5W20, synthetic blend & motorcraft filter

I add 2 oz of zinc immediately after every oil change.

CHEAP ANTI TICK INSURANCE.

my Coyote is as quiet as a sewing machine. I'm deadly serious ...........No B.S.

Open the hood and listen........ even with all those chains and cams, it's damned quiet in there !

Been using Redline additive since I bought the car at 6,900 miles.

While I can't claim that it's magic, it sure hasn't hurt either.

Mine is a Track Pack so I run 5w50. Usually run mid unless I know I'm gonna play then I use premium which is only 91 in my area.
