Back in may my 2nd gear grind became more and more prominent and i was able to replicate the issue with tech in the car (finally!!!) - The dealer agreed that there was something wrong and allowed me to bring the car in for a replacement gear.

After about a week of waiting the rep called me telling me the second gear synchro was backordered but they contacted the vendor directly for it to be "dropped shipped" to the dealer. This ended up being complete BS.

2 weeks had gone by and i was without a car because dealer will not provide a loaner unless i bought the car from them dissapointed.gif - at the beginning of the third week a regional rep became involved due to my incessant bitching on twitter and i was able to get a rental car...

I was told the part was going to be sourced from another dealer and delivered on the 23rd.. this turned out to be BS as well, today is saturday the 27th and niether the rep or the service manager has returned my calls..

I tried asking if i could drive my car until the part came in but they wont give it back because "the transmissions is sitting on the bench waiting on the part to come in" - note: they havent opened it up, just removed it..

I'm about to make a second payment on a car i havent driven in a month because of a $100 part... IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO?

Sorry for the long post.. i just need to vent

TL:DR - second gear synchro is backordered. For the past 5 weeks ford has been telling me my car will be "ready this week"

Like tmv6 said it would be in your best interest to reach out to Deysha at this point and get someone higher up the food chain involved. I think it is ridiculous you weren't provided with another vehicle from the start. Best of luck and keep us updated.

I agree! Don't get me wrong.... Love me some Deysha! There's just so much she can do if the Dealership doesn't care, which was the problem in my case (×2). I gave up. : ( She'll probably chime in Monday sometime.

My wife's 2012 Nissan Rogue was in the shop for 4 1/2 months due to a backordered CVT transmission cooler. After we got it back, we traded it in.

How in the world did they manage to justify that length of time out of service?

I would hope they provided a loaner. Even so this is an incredible length of time that just blows me away for how little appreciation it shows for the idea that you may never buy a Nissan again. I can also only imagine what you might be saying to family, friends and anyone else about the brand while your car was in the shop that long.

Hi Phee,

Glad to learn your case has already been escalated through one of my colleagues. Please send your Twitter contact a message, or PM me with your case number, or your VIN and full name, so I can check on it.

I'd PM Deysha and get her involved.

Thank you for the support, guys!

I had a similar problem with a new 2011 GT in 2010. I told the dealer he was buying back the car after it had only 18 miles on it with a bad lifter on delivery. They bargained with me and made my first payment and GAVE me a 5 year 75K warranty at no charge if I would allow them to fix it.
They said the same crap about no parts but finally said that the factory was going to remove a set from the production line and send the lifters immediately.

They did and the car has never given me any problems since. Now has 39K and almost 5 years later everything is OK. Go demand a new car and negotiate from there. Tell them a member ion your family is a lawyer and will sure them and you are going on a local news channel with your story and tell how bad the dealer is.

It will work.

Good luck.

update 3:

Got a call from the dealer that the car was ready. I show up to get the car and the shifter is sloppy and will not return to the center position. Tech tried to say that this was normal operation. I left the car and expect them to repair it.

Turns out my math was wrong. Today is day 46...FORTY SIX DAYS WITHOUT MY FORD MUSTANG BECAUSE OF TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS.

Dealer refused to even give me a $40 oil change for my trouble. I am now making it my life's mission to let everyone know how ****** ford cars and dealers are. Sold all my F stock too.

Day 47:

I called the dealer around 1 today and they told me that the detents are fine and that they can't figure out what's wrong with the shifter. The tech said he emailed ford corporate for help.. i won't be getting my car back today.

When i brought the car in the dealer refused to give me a loaner because i didnt purchase the car from them. i went TWO WEEKS WITHOUT A CAR AT ALL. at the 3rd week they put me in a rental after recieving a call from me every single day they were late.

At 3:30 today the dealer called and ask me to bring the rental car back because "i should have been put in a loaner" - i told the lady i am on my way to see family for the weekend so they are just going to have to wait on me to get back on saturday. She replied "dont worry about it" and hung up on me.

I called the manager and went straight to voicemail.

Wow, from bad to worse. :(

My 6R80 auto car is in the shop now too...tailshaft was super-loose, making all sorts of bangs/clunks (almost as if you had bad rear end or u-joints). I'll have to pay as I'm using an independent shop, but I should have my car back within a week and actually fixed right. My prior experience with dealer service makes me scared to take the car in for anything "important."

Just spoke to the tech, he seems to be the only courteous person in the whole establishment.

He tore down the tranmission again and reassembled the second gear just to make sure everything was right, inspected the detents and all of them were right. The shifter still doesnt return to center.

They have requested a ford manual transmission specialist come out and look at the car.

Update: i recieved a call from the service advisor at 1PM yesterday. He asked if i could bring the car in before 6:00, i work in Atlanta and it's a 1 hour drive to them from work, so i couldnt do that. He asked me to bring it in today, i was able to get out of work early to drop it off about an hour ago.

They put me in their loaner, its a nice ford fusion. The tech informed me that ford had agreed to give me complimentary oil changes for the next 3 years/45,00 miles. It's nice to know that ford corporate is trying to retain a customer.

After arriving home i recieve a call from enterprise. The lady on the phone wants me to pay $380 dollars for days the dealer refuses to pay. Apparently Wanda, the lady who hung up on me 6 days ago, told them she wasnt going to pay a day after the 6th. I was never told this by her or anyone at the dealer.

I have contacted an attorney.

:surprise:This sounds like a huge headache. Did you buy the car new? Could you qualify under lemon law in your state? The dealer has to provide you with information about lemon law if. I lived it with an 04 VW before I turned it in and bought my Mustang. VW dealer did try to make things better when I asked about lemon law, but at that point I was sick of the car. Good Luck!

I would have thought that Ford would have provided a brand new transmission by now.

i havent even considered that as an option. I called the ford rep this morning and left a voicemail. i will ask her about that when she calls me back.

I spoke to the service advisor about the rental fee today and he said it was a misunderstanding and that they were going to send some paperwork over to enterprise.

He also informed me that the shift shaft is also backordered and they will not be shipping the part out until august 11th. That will be over 90 days that my car has been in service. I asked if he could put the transmission back in and let me drive my car until the part comes in.

Wow - I can't believe they didn't give you a new transmission like others suggested. I would also think there should be some lemon law on used cars too. Did it have Car Fax that came with it. They pay if something has been misrepresented. I know we bought used - but we are still using the dealer we bought it from. If anything sounds like a lemon situation - this does - but I have heard from others that Ford fights lemon situations fiercely - but that was a 5 or 6 years ago in Wisconsin. Different car (an Explorer and it was new when they bought it) took forever but they ended up with a new one that has given them no problems. They just kept going at it. I would check into Lemon Law in Georgia and check into the Car Fax if it came with that. Just a thought or two. I know if I were you I am sure I would have blown up big time at them. You've been more patient than I would be. Hoping your situation gets straightened out soon. Very Very bad press for Ford!

Hi everyone. Thanks for chiming in, i'm not sure who is being shady in this. It seems like everyone is trying their best to resolve it but I can't ignore the fact that my car came in for one issue and now has another.

The dealer called me Saturday to let me know I could drive my car until the shift shaft comes in August 11th. I'm here right now waiting on the tech to come out because they somehow forgot to bleed the clutch.

I'll be about an hour and half late for work.

Clutch is self bleeding, it needs to be pumped aprox. 100 times to get the air out.
