*New* RTR rear decklid is here?

RTR Mustang Decklid Panel 11100-UA (10-14 All) - Free Shipping

I just noticed this under the *new* product releases.

Only a single review so far, from 2 weeks ago.

-------------------
"Rating 5/5. September 24, 2015.

RTR decklid panel is back!

Guys, the new and improved ABS RTR panel is better in so many ways! The fit is much better than the previous metal version and the ABS obviously will not rust. The paint job on the panel was flawless. Don't be afraid to cut your hump off. It's useless! Absolutely love this panel. Hands down one of my favorite mods!!"
-------------------

So the new version apparently solves the rust & other issues of the original. Sounds like a winner for people who want the smooth flush look. AmericanMuscle says it's not currently in stock, so they must have gotten a limited number to begin with, or maybe they are just low production numbers at first. Either way, I would assume AM will get more soon.

Any other sightings of the new panel?

Hi Alex! Thanks for the info. I know people have been waiting for RTR to release their new panel a long time. It's nice to know it's finally happening.

Ha! I see what you did there.
It's Friday.

From what I'm seeing and hearing on a couple other forums they're working out very well. I'm sure you heard that there was some quality control issues in the past and they literally went back to the drawing board to ensure that their parts weren't going to experience and unforeseen issues down the road. They'll be back soon!

Excellent. Thanks again Alex. TGIF.

Hey, if you run across any photos of the new (ABS) panel installed, can you please share them?

Absolutely - There's another thread over HERE (Page 2-3) where you can see but here's a couple pictures.

Awesome. Thanks Alex! By the way, it's nice to know the RTR emblem is removable. I'm sure RTR doesn't want to hear that... but hey... I'm just saying.

By the way -- let me take this opportunity to once again, make my plea for some kind of Black-out ring for the chrome ring on the faux gas cap.

For many people, myself included, it's not that we hate the faux gas cap itself. It's the big chrome ring around it that says... "LOOK at my faux gas cap."

The taillights and decklid have a nice dark look, but that chrome ring stands out like a sore thumb.

If there was a simple product, some kind of black-out ring for the 13/14, I guarantee they would sell like hotcakes. The chrome is what really bothers me, not the cap.

It's amazing how this one little detail can change the rear of the car. Yes I've seen them plastidipped and painted with spray cans, but it would be nice to have a more professional, long lasting solution.

Look at this image I attached. The chrome ring is blacked out and the GT has been painted body color. It looks GREAT. In my opinion.

I believe that many people are replacing the whole decklid, when in fact, it's really just the shiny CHROME RING that bothers them.

Ok, rant over. I'm sorry. The chrome ring drives me crazy. I just wish there was some kind of modification besides spray cans or replacing the whole panel.

Nice to see this manufactured from ABS plastic. I have the original 'painted-metal' version...still love it though. Looks great!

I'm thinking about buying a used, damaged 13/14 OEM decklid panel on the cheap, just so I can play around and try different ways of removing or blacking out the chrome ring. I don't want to experiment on my car's panel and risk scratching anything.

The chrome ring hasn't beat me yet.

Heck, I wish I knew somebody in the design/fabrication world because I would make my own damn part! lol I would offer more than just a Black-out ring. I would also offer the ring in factory colors, for those who like the faux cap and want to accessorize it. Yeah...

Hey Replacement!

I noticed the guy in that install thread (Alex posted) referred to it as removing the RTR "sticker" and didn't say anything else about it so I'm assuming it must be a simple stick-on decal they apply at the end of production, which just peels off. Maybe use a little goo/glue remover afterwards to clean off any adhesive left behind.

Surely it can't be much, judging from the way he mentioned it so casually. Still, it would be nice to confirm.
