13-14 decklid panel plastic defect

Anyone else have this happening on their decklid panel?

I am still within my 3 year 36,000 mile, thinking about escalating this to Deysha...

have you tried talking your sales person first? This looks like something they'll deny but if ya bring cookies they might feel generous.

Why would they deny this? the plastic is either de-laminating or the paint coming off.

It depends on how comfortable you are with some dealership lackeys monkeying around with plastic trim pieces on the car. Might end up looking worse than it is now, even if they replace it.

Because some dealers are _______'s. I would say it's cosmetic and not corrosion If I wanted to deny it.

What did your dealer say?

I should have said "may deny" in my original post, and if this is a duplicate post blame Bill Gates.

They might have fixed that in your first 30 days of ownership, but now they will just say wear&tear, just like paint chips.Good luck let us know your outcome.

My dealer's service rep has a pretty good relationship with me. I sent Deysha a message to see if this is a wear and tear item or something that is covered in the bumper to bumper.

We'll see what happens. Right now I can get a new OEM replacement for about 100 bucks, I may on getting that and leaving this one on until it gets worse.

The new OEM decklid will need to be painted. Not sure how much that'll cost. I had a similar issue when I bought my GT (used). The decklid was a slightly different shade of black than the rest of my car. I asked for a new decklid and they said it would need to be painted separately.

My spoiler has a spot that looks something that LOOKS like this. On mine however, it seems to be under the clear coat. Nothing is chipping off, it just looks like it is. I'm going to replace mine with a different style spoiler so I'm just ignoring it for now.

This is a piece of plastic that overlays on the trunk lid, it's held on by some screws and body tape. So it won't need paint. I think it is de-laminating under the surface, that's what it looks like up close.

The deck lid panel is actually held on by a series of clips molded into the back of it. They snap into the metal trunk lid and are easily broken. It is not de-lamitating. The Clear coat is poor quality and poorly applied. This is very common on 12 and 13 cars.

I carefully removed it, wet sanded and cleared.
