Hole in 2013 vinyl top

So, to add to my many problems I've had with my '13, I now have a hole in the vinyl top that has formed where it apparently creases when down. It's right behind the little roll down windows on the side. Great, so don't these cost like $3K in parts and labor to replace?

I have trouble believing I'm the only one who has constant problems with these cars. Make me terrified having a '15 also. I can't imagine being tag teamed by two Mustangs that are always costing money like this. Live and learn.

Anyone else's top forming holes on its own?

I don't have a vert, but if was me, I'd take it to a shop that does auto upholstery. It can probably be repaired..

From my experience, it cannot. I used to have an '06 convertible. My son put the top down while he had a hockey stick in the back seat ( I was driving him to one of his games). The top got caught on the stick and was binding. On the right "C" pillar was a cut where apparently the vinyl got pinched in the frame of the top as it was binding. Put a nice cut in it.

Several trim shops told me that there is too much tension on the material when the top is up and any repair wouldn't last.

Ended up filing an insurance claim and had the top replaced. It was a bit over $2K.

Traded it away. I didn't want to deal with the headaches anymore. The mystery top-shredding problem was too much.
