Upgrading Shaker500

Alright so as the title says. I'm in the process of hooking up the Metra dash kit 99-5826CH w/ mini touch screen. With a Single Din Pioneer HU, some Alpine component speakers up front with an external amp. Plus another amp for a 10'' subwoofer in a sealed enclosure.

First off, holy cow is this a lot of work!! I only finished hooking up the Headunit and Dash kit today. I prepped ran all the wires for the sub, speakers, and amp install tomorrow. So it should be easy tomorrow...hopefully. it was a PITA to run a 4gauge power wire through that small grommet on the passengers side. Lol looked way easier in the write-ups I read. My cable was way too big and had to cut and cut to find my wire to push through. Oh well its done now.

It is time consuming to tear the mustang down too, so make sure you plan for that. It is actually pretty easy to tear down the car. Just I was a little cautious of how hard to pull if things started breaking.

Anyways I will have to share some more feedback when I'm finished. I planned on taking pictures and doing a full write-up, but tbh I just didnt bother and just kept trucking along today. If anyone has any questions about it though feel free to ask.

Some plus though is that with the aftermarket HU and Metra kit you can still run SYNC through it. Steering wheel controls all worked without any programming. And when you hit the SYNC steering wheel buttons it automatically switches inputs on the HU and plays sync as on priority. I was impressed. Only issue is that if you amp your speakers, which I'm doing tomorrow, the SYNC prompts are supposedly super loud afterwards. Because there is no volume control for that ''SYnC lady''. So I think I might ditch the SYNC, but I will try running it to see how loud the prompts actually are.

Anyways a little review so far. Here's the equipment I bought in case someone is planning the same thing for their Shaker500.

DashKit: Metra 99-5826CH
Wiring Harness: AXXESS FRST (has SYNC and Steering Wheel controls). The 8' woofers in the doors work great too. The harness provides a Sub RCA for the door woofers. You just plug them into your pre-outs on your aftermarket HU.

Thanks for the read and I will update more tomorrow.
