Cruise control question

Hi,
When cruise control is turned on is there supposed to be an indicator light?
When it is actually set a green icon shows up, but nothing showing it has been turned on.

Nope.

I imagine it's just regulation to have an on/off switch. There's no discernible benefit to having it completely turned off. Should have just put a 'disengage' button that does just that until it is set again, but again, probably regulation.

I do not have a light telling me its in my 03 explorer, and from what I remember there was not one on my SHO or 91 fs Bronco, just when its set.

in the 2012 if you hit the "on" button nothing will happen. you only get the green indicator light when you hit "set". when you hit the brake the light will go off, cruise control will still be on however, just not engaged. you can hit resume to take you back to your previous speed and the green light will come back on.
