3.7L V6 Aftermarket cams

As some of you know, I'm having cams sprayed and reground for my Mustang. The cam maker wants to know how many of you would like to purchase cams for your V6 mustang, if he made them available. Of course price will depend on the number of potential cam buyers that are out there. A master cam model is being made, so anyone who would like to see cams being made for the V6, respond below.

I can't release the maker of the camshafts, but it is a big name outfit that wants to get a feel for potential buyers. I will be sending him a link to this web page.

Thanks for your help.

I'd be interested to know price and cam specs/options, but i absolutely will be having my cams done. If this is the outfit i think it is, I'll buy in a set for my car just to make sure they get made :smoke:

It may be awhile before I could pull the trigger on a major upgrade like this, but I would certainly be looking for them in the future!

2013 V6 Base Performance Pack - Stock..... for now
2012 V6 Premium - GT front swap..... more to come

I'd be interested in NA cams, nothing to aggressive, but a bump up from stock and streetable.

I'm not willing to pay $1k for them (not regrinds) like the one poster mentioned, thats for sure. Maybe around $300 per cam for regrinds. So $600 total, maybe $700 total depending on the company.

To those pushing the envelope, that stuff doesn't matter but for those who want simplicity, that's the most marketable way to go about it and ...it will open doors to more grinds later possibly. Just a suggestion if it hasn't already been discussed.

Oh....MORE than "just" enough spring pressure to get the job done too please. lol Like add 25lb to both seat and open pressure over what cam companies typically recommend. This accounts for loss of psi as miles are put on and the springs settle. This is a case where a little more is better than not enough or just enough.

I assume it'll be stock lift to keep it an easy swap without searching through several boxes of "bucket" to achieve the desired lash. Then there's installed height of the spring, stem protrusion of where the locks actually locate, etc. Just more aggressive ramps to get more duration under the lift curve?

$250 per cam sounds better considering it's not only a regrind.

If you look at aftermarket cams for the 5.0 they are around 1k i'd expect the same from an aftermarket v6 cam

Good catch
Yeah I got ahead of myself , I meant for a set per side. So $150 - $175 per cam for a regrind.

I'd want to see dyno charts and hear about driveability first.

As Intense has already asked but bears repeating: What kinda cam options this maker looking at, Frank?

Lift and duration? Is lift really going to be an option with our solid lifters/DIRECT ACTING MECHANICAL BUCKETS? (if you don't know why the caps/bold, just youtube the original 2011 v6 mustang ads)

Helped set the lash on a CA18 a few weeks back, and the idea of splitting the bank, adding two more cylinders and, most of all, the cost of engine-specific 'buckets' seems extremely unappealing.

I would be interested as long as it is made by a reputable company that does the proper R&D.

If those requirements are met then I'm a buyer

If this happens them we need to see things like valve springs, rollers, ect as well or were just going to hit a wall where we can make more power but factory parts won't hold up and there are no better options
