I believe you're referring to a two-rotor.

This (a four-rotor) sounds nothing like a lawnmower.

I'm not gonna lie ; that thing sounds insane. Haha I was not expecting that sound when it took off.

I have only heard rx8 and 7 around here with exhausts that sound like garbage. That sounded like something totally different.

Yup. Adding one or two (or in one man's case, 4, making it a six-rotor) makes a huge difference.

I love the sound of my V6.

You can't beat the sound of a 9-cylinder radial airplane engine though... Mmm. Love me a CJ-6 Nanchang Engine! The video doesn't do it justice. In person it is so deep.

The car in that video did sound insane! I`m going to guess its a track car since I can`t imagine that thing sitting next to me at the light. As far as that aircraft goes, you could not pay me enough to go up in that "Peoples republic thing". It took half the video to just getting it started. were they using blank shotgun shells as ignitors like they did in the old days??

I like the sound of our V-6's. The new 5.0 sounds like popcorn popping, to me anyway . I think the old 4.6L 3 valve sounds good. Just my 2 cents

This thread turned into the usual, it's okay but it's not a V8. I don't think v8's are the only good sounding engines. Just taking the V6 into account, I think it sounds good. This was not a comparison of the 3.7 vs. 5.0 sound. I appreciate good sound out of all kinds of engines: I4's, I6's, V6's, V8's, rotary, high revving Euro V8's.

I have heard a few 3.7's with axle backs (ones with mufflers, not deletes) and was amazed how good they sound. V6's can sound awesome, just look of some videos of the early to late 80's F1 cars with their twin turbo V6's...apples to oranges yes, but OMG they sounded good, and made like 1000 HP.

Forget about the sound of that 9 Cyl. Radial.....

If you want REAL Radial Sound,.... Listen to a Vought F4U Corsair, With That Best EVER Built "Pratt & Whitney R-2800 18 Cylinder Monster that could Peak out to 3,500 HP when they came equiped with BOTH an Internal Superchargers and Exterior Turbochargers!!....Now thats some Sound!

But to the Main Topic.....I think that these New TiVCT 3.7's Sound Just Fine!!
I have a buddy with the SHO (yes I know its a 3.5 L) but he has that thing Tuned to the Bone with a Open Element CAI, and the Boost Raised to the Moon (AED Tune) Well that thing sounds like a Freakin Rocket-ship, And goes like one too!!.....As that heavy SHO walks right away from My 5.0, without prejudice!!

Sean.
Those SHOs can be made into beasts for heavy full size sedans. I test drove one when I was bored one day at the dealership waiting for some warranty work and that thing PLANTS you into the seat when the turbos both kick in at 4k rpm. It's not too fast stock, but with some mods I'm sure it's quick.

But the new twin turbo 4.7 v8's in the s550 Benz are something else. "400" horsepower and "440" torque but i think the germans are underrating it. Maybe to the wheels.

That thing literally surges in the midrange like a afterburner kicked in. I was driving one a couple days ago and Im pretty sure it's faster than my car after 60. That thing pulled without mercy to 120 while I was getting my ass massaged and cooled hahaha
