Why would I hate the gear that lets me get 33mpg highway? The only highway I had to use 5th on was mostly in Pittsburgh

I know it is designed for the gas mileage, but this is the first car that requires me to shift back to the 5th gear, just for an incline on the interstate. Otherwise, I can hear the engine being lugged unhappily. This doesn't make me feel my car is very powerful at all.

Should I consider to replace the 2.73 gears with 3.31 ones just for the sake of my 6th gear?
You could just stay in 5th.

I hate when car makers make top gear too short because they figure drivers are too lazy to downshift.

+1 This is the first car I'm not looking for a taller gear on the highway.

Never argue with an idiot........They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience!

I love 6th in this car w/ 2.73s. Lets me run about 1650RPMs on my daily commute, which nets me around 32mpg. And if I need to drop into 5th for more power, it's 1.1 so it feels great for such a high gear. You can always hit 3 or 4 if you more power.

Worse try a 1.6L with a 5 spd that revs at 3k at 65 MPH and cant get a taller gear to save your life, fn Kia soul
