oil drain pluig washer

Anyone ever just replace the washer on your oil drain plug? Muts be cheaper than replacing the whole plug.

In 50k miles between my 15 and 17 Mustangs I have never had the need to replace either. For that matter in 40+ years of changing my own oil have maybe once or twice had to replace the bolt or washer.

Had to replace one in my Tacoma. The truck has over 200k miles on it and wouldn't fit in my garage anymore so oil changes for done at jiffy lube. I'm thinking they lost it on one of the oil changes. Found out when we noticed oil leaking. Can't wait to move into my new house where I'll have a nice 20x25 foot garage.

It has probably been way over tite a few times if you have to replace ether.
In most cases you can get just a washer that will work but if it was mine I would buy the new plug and chalk it up to a lessen learned
