More money in the dealer's pocket, bigger repair bills for the mechanic and a lighter billfold for the buyer.

Yes - my car is a 301A car. Better stereo/more speakers. Best thing is the big touch screen and Sync3. Check Ford's website for more details.

I went with the 401a package in my 2016 GT. The cooled ceramic leather seats are a must have here in the central valley of California. My car is parked outside in direct sunlight. Exterior high temperatures are above 108 degrees from late June through August. The big screen is a plus. I use Google maps with satellite view and WAZE from my Android connected Moto Z phone.

2010 Kona Blue GT Premium traded in June 2016 for a 2016 Oxford White GT Premium with Ceramic interior. Automatic transmission, Sync3, p265/35r20 tires, Shaker audio system. Other vehicles 1964 Pontiac Catalina 389, 1972 Pontiac Lemans 400, 1967 Ford F-100 352, 2016 Ford F-350 Dually, 2003 Ford Crown Victoria LX.

Can you display your phone navigation on the touch screen using sync 3 ?

I can display what my Android Auto navigation map from my usb connected phone looks like. I'm using the latest version of SYNC3

First the Ford map full screen at 22:32 clock time. Kind of bland, and the maps are 4 years out of date. You have to take a trip to the dealer to have them updated, which wastes time and they aren't updated for free. Even when they do update the Ford navigation map, it is more than likely at least a year old.

The Android auto map is full screen in satellite mode at 22:31 clock time. It says google maps in the top left corner. You can press the microphone icon in the top right and say a location. It will give you driving directions, and optional routes and if there is a phone number associated with the location, it will give you an option to dial the number. Speeds on Highways and secondary roads are indicated with Green being near the speed limit, Red is stop and go traffic, Orange is reduced traffic speed. The Ford map will only show speeds on freeways. Also the Google maps are up to date.

Thanks, that's the info I've been looking for.

I find the Android Auto screen to be decidedly low tech compared to Sync 3. Google and Waze maps are not any better than the factory nav as far as getting you to your destination. The Sirus Travel Link that comes with the factory nav is every bit as good as Google or Waze for letting you know about traffic, construction, accidents and POIs.

As far as updates go there are two new housing developments that folks started moving into 1.5 to 2 years ago and neither road shows up on Google Maps or Waze so the update advantage spoken of with these apps is very much over stated.

The biggest disadvantage to Android Auto is it has to be plugged in via USB, doesn't work over Bluetooth. For me that means I have to use the USB port that barely can keep up with my phone or the fast charger that will charge the phone in about an hour.

My map version is NA01 14, Which is probably short hand for first quarter of 2014. The maps in my car are 5.25 years old. The maps on Google are newer than that. The dealers around here aren't interested in updating maps. The cost, if you could find one to do it would be many hundreds of dollars, and you have to leave your car for a day at the dealer.

If you find a road or roads missing in Google Maps you can actually call the map up and make corrections by clicking "Send feedback."
