Torsen Differential Metal piece

Hey everyone, I have a 2016 mustang GT 36k miles with a Performance package. I have the torsen differential with 3.73 gears. Today I was changing the diff fluid and when I pulled the plug there was this piece of metal stuck to the magnet. Anyone have any ideas as to what this is?

It appears suspiciously like a "turning" produced by a cutting tool, like a drill bit. Likely a manufacturing chip which did not get removed during final cleaning. BTW, such a piece of metal is capable of breaking teeth off a ring gear.

yep, definitely looks like some left over shavings from the manufacturing process, should have been cleaned out before assembly

hopefully that is all of it

Looks like a shaving off the spur or worm gear if you have warranty take it in ASAP. If not then keep a good eye on it and start saving for a new one
