I just had some recent personal experience with this sort of problem. My T45 was difficult to get into reverse. I took it to a manual transmission shop. The guy said my clutch or clutch cable was bad. He also said that the pedal effort was too high for a stock clutch.
Since my clutch had less than 15k miles, I replaced the cable.
Before this happened, I would not have believed the difference that a cable could make. The pedal effort is much lower. It indeed is easier get into/out of reverse.
What I think happened is the cable was binding on the inside. The prevented it from adjusting correctly when the automatic clutch adjustment was done.
