The head gaskets alot more easy on the 5-series than a 3.8 for certain if it of the E34 generation 1989-1995. if theres oil by ur plugs check the valve cover gasket theres o-rings in there that seperate oil from the plug wires which are recessed into the heads on the M50 engine perform a cooling system pressure test after making sure u have a good cap(there plastic and suck) and no external leaks. that will give u a good idea of ur internal gaskets condition. The 525 is an Inline-6 so theres only 1 head to remove and theres tons of room. Be careful with the vanos system it ur model has it its on the front of the head its fragile and $500
