Skip shift only happens in 1st gear. It happens when you're accelerating slowly, like when in traffic.
You are probably right as it has been a while since I have driven a performance car with a manual tranny. However, the first two times I ran it hard through 1st, 2nd & 3rd gears (power shifting each time) it was perfect. That is why I was blaming it on skip shift. But, it could have been me just being rusty the third time. I would still disconnect the skip shift feature.
