I would open the bleeder as I push in he caliper piston. No need to push all the crap that is in the caliperback through the system. Then top it off with fresh fluid when you are donr. You won't need to bleed the system as there will be no air introduced if you use basic care and caution. I still prefer to bleed out the brakes until clean clear fluid comes out of the caliper because brake fluid does have a shelf life and should be replaced as a maintanence item atleast on ce every 3 years yet noone seems to pay it any mind.
