I hear ya! I used the same reasoning for ordering aa new convertible and being a Michigan resident also. I tell folks that the three seasons up here are delightful; just the winters can be a bit tough!
IMHO, the old wive's tale of convertibles only being practical in climates like Florida and southern California is just so much bunk. In every other area of the US you have so many days (and especially evenings) where a vert can be really enjoyable - I cannot wait for mine to arrive.
