Anytime your iPod is updated SYNC will indexed your music to enable you to use voice commands.

The capacity is completely dependent on your music collection and the size of the metadata. Typically the system will hold 80-100 gigs. Some people have been able to index more than 15,000 songs! I don't think you should have a problem but let me know if anything comes up.
