Begin with changing the battery in the key fob (the remote). "CR2032" 3volt. It is 2cm dia. x 2mm thick approx. Use a small flat blade screwdriver to pop the fob open (pry at the tabs by the key ring loop) and the fob will hinge open.

Hopefully that will work now and you'll be set to start.
