Here are the Focals that I got. Focal Access 165CA1 6-3/4" 2-way car speakers at Crutchfield.com
Overall it has improved the quality a lot, but seams like it's still missing something.
Being a noob at car audio, am I correct in thinking of adding a 5-channel amp as my next step so that I would be able to ad a sub through that same amp in the future?
I put the component version of those in my wife's Hyundai. They're powered by a Pioneer head unit that only puts out 14W average power (I hate the term RMS because it's a misnomer). At low to mid levels, they sound spectacular, but they really lose their luster when you try to jam out. They're very efficient, something like 93dB, but they absolutely need an amplifier to shine. It's fine for her, because she doesn't turn it up but when you're in the mood to listen to it loud, they need power.
Focals are capable of real hi-fi, so I'd apply dound deadening to the doors and power them with a quality amp.
