Well, they put the MT-82 behind the E46 6 cyl BMW M3 with an 8000 rpm redline so, that suggests it can do more than diesel duty.
I shall reiterate that trans
torque ratings are related to vehicle weight. This sucker is about 380 rated at about twice the Mustang's GVW. The MT82 is good to about 700-ish lbs/ft at the GVW of the Mustang. Thus, we can put to bed this internet myth that the trans
is sub-spec for the Mustang's power.
What remains here is sub-par QC on outsourced parts and/or assembly QC issues.
