After talking with a tech who installs alarms, he said that car alarms are designed and intended for cars that are driven daily. They do draw off the battery but if the car is driven daily the battery will stay charged. A car that is seldom driven or a garage queen will have battery drain. Mine is not a daily driver but I do keep it on battery tender in the garage most of the time. It also dawned on me, if my car is secure in my garage why do I think I need an alarm system. I will just continue to use the steering wheel bar that seems to work fine so far.
