I agree with SS. The memory your friend is referring to is called KAM or keep alive memory. Your vehicle has an adaptive learning strategy that adapts to your driving style over a period of time. Typically KAM would be reset after a repair to give the PCM (computer) a clean start. You won't notice the difference and in my opinion it could actually cost you ET time at the track. I'd like to hear from someone who's tried it, hopefully I'm wrong
