Is there a decent aftermarket cupholder for the 98?

Just bought a 98 GT convertible which has what has to be the worst cupholders in existence. They aren't deep enough to hold any kind of cup and you actually have to hold the cup or bottle in it or they will tip over and spill.
If you put a large McD's soft drink in the front hole, then when you run through the gears you will hit it. The second holder is even more shallow. Is there room to make these deeper so you can use them|?

To answer your specific question, no. But Ford did make a better one, it's called go to your local pick n' pull or Ebay and replace that entire section of center console with one from a 2001 or newer Mustang. It is a direct swap, friend of mine had one in his '98. Still not perfect, anything in the front cup holder can conflict with your reach to the shifter sometimes, but by far still the best of the '94-'04 SN95 run.

In that situation, your "cupholder" would be sitting next to you in the passenger seat lol.

My "cup holder" already dropped 16 oz of birch beer on my parchment color mats and carpet. Some braking anticipation issues, I think. She blames me, so she is for sale. Can cook, quiet, motherly. $20.00 should do it. I'll even pay up to $30.00 to take her.

Yeah, I used to have a cupholder matching that description about 10 or 11 years ago. She was a good cupholder, until one day she wasn't a good cupholder anymore. As it sometimes goes, lol.

Blameshifting is typical cupholder behavior. I've learned to accept it and choose my battles. And buy a Rug Doctor w/ upholstery attachments for when the cupholder screws up - or as has been mentioned, when we cause the cupholder to screw up.

Honestly you just swayed me a little more towards an auto for the next one.

Cupholder

I took a glass and wrapped a paper towel around it until it fit in the back holder snugly. I can put a McD or Hardee's large cup in it now and it will not tip over and fall out.
Having done that, I think I'll go shop for some black PVC fittings and make an insert for the back holder. I can't put anything in the front on because the 5 speed shifter hits it.
I can't believe some idiot engineer actually designed this.
I did see on that had a "leg" on it and slid down between the passenger seat side and the console. It was cheap and on Amazon, so I may also order one of them.
